Gujarat Technological University conducts GCET. GTU is presently headed by Mr. Manish Bharadwaj Director Technical Education Gujarat Government. The Gujarat Common Entrance Test is for admission in MBA and MCA courses in various Institutes and colleges affiliated with state of Gujarat. This year there were 8000 seats for MBA/MCA in the state.
GCET MBA is a state level examination like national competitive examinations CAT, MAT, CET etc. It is a single platform for the MBA aspirants of the candidates who are willing to take admission in the colleges based in Gujarat and affiliated with any of the ten universities accredited by Government of Gujarat.

GCET MBA was introduced in the year of 2002 with a motive to create a centralized system for admission to the MBA colleges based in Gujarat and affiliated with the universities accredited by Government of Gujarat.
For the purpose of taking admission through GCET MBA, the candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.
A degree in any discipline with minimum 50% and 45% for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe from a university situated in Gujarat state or a university from out side of Gujarat but the candidate must have passed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent examination from the Gujarat Board or a Central Board School based in Gujarat or The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi Board School based in Gujarat.
A final year candidate can apply for the examination but will be eligible only after he clears the qualifying examination with 50% marks or 45% marks for Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe
Examination fees will be decided by the GCET MBA Admission committee.
There is reservation as per the government norms.
Scheduled Caste : 7%
Scheduled Tribe : 15%
Socially and Economically backward class, including widow and orphans of any class : 27%
One seat will be reserved for Kashmiri Migrants and there will be a separate merit list for them.
The selection process comprises of entrance test, group discussion and personal interview.
The weight age given to each section is as follows:
Written Test : 80%
Group Discussion : 10%
Personal Interview : 10%
If there is tie for the same score, it will be solved by applying following logic:
There are 23 test centers spread all over Gujarat. Some of them are at Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, Kherva, Patan, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Vallabh Vidyanagar
The written test will carry the pattern of the other national level entrance examinations for MBA like CAT, MAT, GMAT & GRE etc. The written test will comprise of Reading Comprehension, Language Proficiency, Numeric Ability, Data Analysis, Data Sufficiency, Critical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Psychological Aspects, General Knowledge and General Business Environment.
The duration of the written test will be of Two hours
There will be 150 questions of objective nature having four alternatives for answer
4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark lost for each wrong answer.
GCET MBA examination will be conducted both in Gujarati and English
Masters of computer application (MCA) is a post graduate course in the field of computer science. In India, MCA is a 3 year degree course or in other words it is a six semester course.
